The visual artists Mada, Tolu Ayoka, Clara, Alexis Chivir-ter-Tsegba, Neil A. Lionking, Sophia Zarders, and DANI YOUR DARLING present paintings, illustrations, metalwork, and short films. Each piece serves as a unique lens into the lived experiences of Black queer individual.

About the Event
"Making Black Queer History" is an art exhibition curated by DYD in honour of the 100th anniversary of Black History & Futures Month, showcasing the diverse mediums and vibrant work of contemporary Black queer artists with creative practices based on the unceded lands of xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and Sinixt (sn̓ʕay̓čkstx) Nations. This curated collection is a testament to the rich tapestry of experiences and identities within the Black queer community.
This exhibition is free entry for those who self-identify as Black people. With two workshops TBA that are ticketed in support of our guest facilitators.
This exhibition will be a Masks Required space with free masks available upon entering for all attendees in honour of Disability Justice principles, and in engagement with anti-pandemicene praxis. In addition, air purifiers will be present. Learn more at bit.ly/VancouverCOVID.
